Cotswold Elliot
Elliot makes himself useful by giving our oldest grandchild a ride and carrying home grass cut next door. For thousands of years, his strong little ancestors on Shetland carried peat for crofters fires and anything else including men.

Elliot was a young 3 year old when these photos were taken.
Children were led around the lawn for a 'short' ride.
As a child I learned to ride on a Shetland pony.
In their native lands they carried men and women about the Islands and peat for winter fires. In a bad winter only the best survived which accounts for the breeds exceptional ability to put on weight and also for their stamina.
